Garnet rough in feldspar
Garnet in matrix - wollastonite rough stone
In this rough stone, the garnet is surrounded by wollastonite, a feldspar variety.
The red garnet (hessonite) forms a beautiful contrast with the white/gray feldspar.
Due to its hardness, it can be lapidary cut very well, making it ideal for further processing.
When cut into very thin slices (approx. 3 mm), the garnet is even transparent/translucent.
The rough stones have a size of approx. 7 - 15 cm.
